On June 16, 2024, Kevin Tan collaborated with the Iași Orchestra in Romania and gave a moving performance of Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor at the Iași Concert Hall. This concerto appearance marked an important performance following his winning First Prize in the Professional Piano Category at the Romanian Elite Musicians International Competition, where he also received the Special Jury Prize for a performance with orchestra.
That evening, the approximately 800-seat hall was filled to capacity, and the atmosphere was vibrant and enthusiastic. With his poised stage presence, refined and secure technique, and deeply expressive musicianship, Kevin moved the entire audience. At the conclusion of the performance, the evening’s conductor, Virgil Popa, a highly experienced maestro in his sixties with an extensive international artistic background, warmly embraced Kevin and bowed to express his admiration and gratitude. Members of the orchestra also showed their sincere appreciation for his remarkable interpretation. This performance not only fully demonstrated Kevin’s outstanding artistry and expressive power, but also marked a significant moment of international recognition in his musical career.
